The Land (al-Ard; الأرض)
The Land (al-Ard; الأرض)
'The Land' is made by the Women's Soap Co-operative of Beita, just south of Nablus. The newest of the Nablus soap brands, al-Ard are true gems. Since they work in relatively small batches and are connected with many local small producers, their olive oil is often among the very best. The cooperative's equipment is all stainless steel and run electrically, compared with other brands which use gas or wood burning furnaces to cook their soap. Rather than hand stamping their bars, the Co-op uses a press machine that makes a deep and visible imprint. Al-Ard's main market is in northern Palestine, in the areas around Nazareth and Jenin.

Ingredients
All the Nablus soap brands we sell are cooked in the traditional style out of olive oil, water, and soda, resulting in a soda-less bar of pure saponified olive oil.
Dimensions
Dimensions
Depends on the particular batch, but bars for all brands we carry usually measure about 2 x 3 x 3 inches and weigh 5 ounces on average.

Care Instructions
Olive oil soap gets better with age. Keep them in a dry place for an increasingly olive-tan colored, dense, sudsy, and less soap-smelling bar. They can be aged even faster in a sunny window.

I love this stuff. I stopped using anything else to clean myself. I even started using it as a shampoo bar, and it works better than anything else I’ve ever tried.
I have extremely dry, scaly skin. I also suffer from eczema. Even with intense hydration lotion, there is always a flurry of dead skin cells whenever I take off my clothing. It's very icky.
I have been using my AL'ARD soap for about a month, and my skin problems are almost completely resolved.
My hands still get irritated from using regular liquid soap, so I plan to switch to Palestinean soap for hand-washing as well.
I am a fan for life. I sincerely hope that the Cooperative will be around for many, many years so that everyone may enjoy their products. Thank you.
